Our Core ValuesDependence on GodJohn 14:4-5 The truth that marked the reformation was this: "The just shall live by faith." This revolutionized Christianity after a long period of sterile religion. This truth not only applies to salvation, but it applies to our daily life. We need to live by faith-faith not in ourselves, but in God. Many things can be accomplished by people who muster up talent, strength and intelligence. We can do a lot according to earthly standards through human talent. But only those things done through the power of faith, only those things done through dependence on God will last internally and eternally. As a church, we endeavor to depend on God at every step for wisdom, direction and strength. As individuals, dependence on God is the only path to the abundant life promised by Jesus Christ. EvangelismLuke 15:7 Evangelism by definition is telling and living the good news of Christ's salvation. We believe in the concept of relational evangelism and evangelism as a process. To practice relational evangelism, we need to establish credible, caring relationships with our peers. This takes prayer and intentionality (Colossians 4:2-5). Sharing our testimony and our faith carries greater credibility if the one listening knows we genuinely care for them as an individual. Remember, "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Their acceptance or rejection of the message of Christ never effects our love and value of them. Authentic CommunityActs 2:44-47 (NIV) We believe in the power of love, acceptance and forgiveness, which results from true, authentic fellowship. Relationships of vulnerability and accountability provide the sense of love and belonging God has placed within us. Creating this kind of atmosphere becomes a powerful magnet to attract people to Christ and His church. Because God has created individuals with an innate need for community, CCR will seek to provide the forum and opportunities for this to take place. Life change occurs best when one can love and be loved, know and be known, and share where one is on their spiritual journey in the context of an authentic, safe group of people. IntegrityProverbs 11:3 (NIV) By definition, integrity is wholeness, it's honoring the image of our Creator by wholeness and truth. It is doing the right thing for the right reason at the right time. As a church and as individuals, God has called us to do what is right, to do what is biblical, no matter what the cost. Realizing perfection is never attainable, we will strive to live life and do ministry with honesty, courage, grace and truth. Integrity will permeate our ministries, our words, our actions and our intentions. ExcellenceColossians 3:23-24 Excellence honors God and inspires people. We will serve God with a commitment to excellence, which is doing the best we can with what we have. We serve a most excellent God and he deserves the best of what we have to give Him. There is a difference between excellence and perfection. Excellence is doing the best we can with what we have. Doing the best we can means that every aspect of CCR will reflect a quality effort and not a compromise to expediency. We will not strive for excellence simply for the sake of excellence, but because we serve an excellent God. We have the greatest message in history! We will present all we do in the best format possible! EffectivenessJohn 15:8,16 (NIV) To "bear fruit" is to have our lives reflect a change in Christ through doing the good works that God's Holy Spirit has prompted us to do. Jesus explains that "bearing fruit" is at the core of who we are to be and what we are to do as disciples. Ministry efforts and direction should be gauged by this biblical standard. In order to be effective, we must be in tune to the Holy Spirit and in touch with the culture. Effectiveness flows out of our lead and direction from God. But being culturally sensitive, while remaining doctrinally pure, is essential if we are to reach this generation and the next with the life giving message of salvation. Value All PeopleJohn 3:16 (NIV) We believe that all people are created in God's image, that all people are the object of God's affection. Because of this truth, we live our lives with the truth that all people matter to God. These truths make it clear that all people are of immense value to God. And because they are valuable to him, they are valuable to our CCR family - regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. Biblical Authority2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV) The sole basis of our belief is the Bible. The Scripture is the final authority on all matters of faith and practice. We believe that Scripture originated with God and he chose to communicate his message, without error, to us through human authors. We believe that the Scriptures are inerrant and infallible in the original manuscripts All of our efforts towards cultural relevancy and effectiveness will always be within the standard of biblical authority. God has spoken through the Scripture and we will follow the Scripture as our final authority. As a church, we commit to teaching God's word with relevancy and without compromise. We also believe that individuals must endeavor to read and study the Scriptures in order to become fully committed to Christ. All aspects of our church life and our private lives and conduct must be submitted to what the Bible teaches.
