Our Core PurposeCCR Purpose Statement:To attract and lead
the spiritually seeking into
a life fully committed to Christ.
to AttractColossians 4:5-6Through our lives, people should see a clear, loving, attractive picture of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, many churches and/or Christians have had the opposite effect on those who are not yet believers in Jesus Christ. We are never called to "repel" those who need Christ's love and forgiveness. Our life is supposed to be an attractive aroma for those who need him. [back to top] and Lead1 Corinthians 9:19,22 (Message) the Spiritually Seeking Because Jesus Christ came to seek and to save
the lost, we are compelled to do the same. The beautiful passage in
Luke 15 gives three powerful pictures of valuable possessions that
were lost-a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost son. When each of
these possessions were found, tremendous joy and celebration resulted.
At CCR, our heart beats for those who have lost their way spiritually.
Unchurched Seekers The community of Colorado Springs has been misunderstood throughout the entire country. There is the perception that Colorado Springs is a "Christian community." The media has perpetuated part of this misconception with the attention given to many para-church organizations that reside here. Other Christian leaders in our community have attempted to position Colorado Springs in such a way, but the facts point to the contrary. There are numerous demographic studies that show that Colorado Springs is largely unchurched. A recent article in the Gazette Telegraph showed that Colorado Springs was 10% lower than the national average when it came to church attendance. This indicates that scores of people, whom God loves, values and cares about deeply, are not experiencing an authentic church community. [back to top]into a LifeThe most important relationship anyone can experience is one with God. We enter into that relationship because of what Jesus Christ accomplished through his death and resurrection. It is only through this kind of personal relationship with God that we can experience an abundant life now and a life eternal. It is essential that we direct people into a high growth relationship with God so they can enjoy this most precious privilege. The most important relationship anyone can experience is one filled with love for God. Flowing out of our love for God is a demonstrable love for others. Our relationship with God, and subsequent relationships with others is the foundation of the Christian faith. The kind of life God wants for us is one where we are in relationship with him, but also in relationship with our "neighbors." In living out our life with our neighbors, God places upon us the responsibility to build relationships with individuals within our circles of influence. The effectiveness of the church in reaching the lost for Christ will be in direct proportion to the believers who are willing to build bridges, to do life with the "seekers." [back to top] fully committed to ChristA partial commitment to any endeavor will always result in disappointment and a less than optimum outcome. Imagine an army partially committed to a battle, a football team partially committed to a game, or a parent partially committed to parenting. The end result is predictable. The same is true of a person who wants to give anything but full devotion and commitment to Christ. This person settles for a disappointing and a less-than-effective life.
